How We’re Bringing Starboard to Life

Any exploration project is an adventure. I’m thrilled that you’ve chosen to follow along on this venture. Our mission is to bring people together to make memories and to share stories, and we believe dinner parties (with wine) do just that.

Storytelling is at the heart of any wine. Uncorking a bottle means sparking conversation. Port is an excuse to linger a bit longer at the table. To be present. To celebrate the simple art of being in the moment. We believe that’s living — living well.

Starboard is an exploration project in Port wine that is all about you. It’s about building a community of people (Port enthusiasts and the Port curious) to make Port wine more widely known and celebrated among Americans.

Here are two key ways we’re leaning in together to bring Starboard to life:

• Spreading the word. We’re building our community thoughtfully. We’re connecting with like-minded winemakers, experts, and Port wine enthusiasts to share their knowledge and love for Port. We’ll share these expert insights in articles, Zoom webinars, Instagram live chats, and more. On Instagram, use #drinkport to share with the world how you drink port.

• Experiencing Port. The only way to create a wine we all enjoy is by tasting it. Sign up for the newsletter and follow us on Instagram (@starboardportwine) to be the first to know where and how we’ll be sampling Port wines and learning together. We’ll host local wine tastings as well as virtual ones via Zoom.

We encourage Starboard followers to be curious. Exploration requires curiosity. We’ll listen, learn, and observe — keeping our eyes and ears open to unique ways to re-introduce people to Port.

Our goal is not to make Port wine mainstream but rather to uncork its full potential. We believe it has a coveted seat at every table around which life happens.
